Fixray vs MaintainX: built for venues, not factories.

MaintainX is an industrial-grade CMMS with 100+ integrations. If you run a factory floor, it's probably the right call. If you run a hotel, a conference centre, or an event venue, you're paying for shelves of functionality your team will never open. Here's what changes when the tool is built for your operation.

Fixray is best for you if…

  • You operate a UK venue (hotel, conference centre, event space) and find MaintainX over-engineered
  • You'd rather pay per site than per user as your fixing and managing team grows
  • You invoice in GBP and need VAT on the invoice
  • You value rollout speed (day-one adoption) over integration depth

MaintainX is best for you if…

  • You run a factory or industrial facility with 50+ FM staff
  • You need 100+ integrations into ERP, MES, or IoT sensors
  • You already have a dedicated CMMS admin and a rollout budget
  • Your compliance regime needs heavyweight audit tooling beyond UK venue standards

MaintainX is genuinely good at industrial. If that's you, don't switch on our say-so.

How Meridian Grand ended up here

We looked at MaintainX. Too heavy. We needed reporters who could flag a broken tap without an app install, and a fixer dashboard that didn't take a week to configure. Fixray gave us one list, a photo against every job, and proof it's been done.

Switching questions

MaintainX has a free tier too. Is Fixray's actually different?
Both are genuinely free, and MaintainX Basic is more generous than people expect — unlimited work orders and unlimited requester users, capped at 2 active repeating work orders. Fixray's Log tier is free forever on a single site with unlimited issues, unlimited Reporters, 2 Managers and 2 Fixers per site, and one active recurring maintenance schedule. So both free tiers let you try planned maintenance and neither runs a full regime — MaintainX gives you two concurrent schedules to our one. If PPM is the thing you're buying for, compare Track, which lifts the schedule limit entirely, against MaintainX Essential rather than comparing the two free tiers.
What about MaintainX's integration library?
If you need deep ERP / MES / IoT integrations, MaintainX wins. Fixray ships CSV and PDF export on Track and Operate, Stripe billing, and a Supabase data model you can query directly. Most UK venue operators don't need more than that.
How does pricing compare for a 10-fixer team?
MaintainX Essential is $20 per user per month billed annually ($25 monthly) — about $200 a month for ten fixers on the annual rate. Fixray is priced per site rather than per user, so on a single site with ten fixers it typically runs lower. See the current pricing page for today's numbers.
How does the bill change as more people get involved?
Reporters are unlimited on every plan including the free Log tier, so growing who can report never changes what you pay. Adding people who fix or manage does: Log includes 2 Managers and 2 Fixers per site, and going beyond that means Track or Operate, which include unlimited Managers and Fixers. After that the price is per site, not per person. MaintainX's paid tiers are priced per user — Essential from $20 per user per month billed annually, Premium $65 — so its bill keeps tracking headcount as the team grows. Worth being precise about where that bites: MaintainX Basic includes unlimited requester users, so the divergence shows up on paid tiers, not on day one.
Is Fixray just a simpler MaintainX?
It's a different product. MaintainX is built for industrial operations. Fixray is built for venue operators — rooms, spaces, event turnarounds. The language, defaults, and workflow all assume a venue.
